The Springer Opera House

The Springer Opera House first opened its doors in 1871 and is the home of the Georgia Repertory Theatre. The Springer serves as Georgia’s State Theatre and is one of America’s most vibrant professional theatre companies with a popular Mainstage Series, an innovative second-space series called Studio II, a Theatre for Young Audience Series featuring some of this region’s most talented student actors, and a national touring program called Springer Theatricals. It is also the home of one of the nation’s finest training schools for young actors, the Springer Theatre Academy.

The Audience Building Roundtable is a game-changing innovation in an area of the arts that gets far too little attention. We often speak of audience development without much reflection on where audiences actually come from. This Roundtable process is a jolt of reality for our industry. It helps us assemble a tool box and a passion for putting those tools to work in the community.
